Arrival to Edinburgh

DAY 1: -/-/A; Overnight in Edinburgh/surrounding area.

●●● Off to Scotland! Sit back and enjoy your flight to Edinburgh. Our transfer will meet you at the airport and take you to our hotel for the first two nights. Whether - depending on your arrival time - you already want to get a first impression of the SCOTTISH CAPITAL or if you prefer to settle down in the hotel and relax for a while, it is up to you. Let us surprise you, which special highlight awaits us today at dinner in the hotel! If you feel like it, you can end the evening at the hotel bar, get to know your fellow travelers a little better and get in the mood for your Scotland tour.

Edinburgh

DAY 2: F/-/A; Overnight in Edinburgh/surrounding area.

●●● Are you ready to explore the Athens of the North? Today we take a closer look at the capital. On foot and by coach, we will visit together the highlights of EDINBURGH with the old town and the new town. Plant lovers will get their money's worth during our visit to the BOTANICAL GARDEN will get their money's worth. In the afternoon you are in charge. The city center attracts with countless idyllic cafes. If you still want to experience something, visit the imposing Edinburgh Castle on Castle Rock - it's hard to believe that this volcanic rock formation was formed around 340 million years ago! The first building probably dates back to the seventh century.

Fishing villages, golf, castles and nature project

DAY 3: F/-/A; Overnight in Fife/Perth/Kinross/Surroundings.

●●● Let's go to the KINGDOM OF FIFE! Across the inlet FIRTH OF FORTH we come to the famous peninsula. The small romantic fishing villages, invite us for a walk and in ST. ANDREWS the home of golf awaits us. In the royal university town, which is picturesquely situated on the North Sea, among many others no less a person than PRINCE WILLIAM studied (and also met his Kate, also a student at the University of St Andrews!). The University of St Andrews is the OLTEST UNIVERSITY in Scotland and is one of the three most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, along with Oxford and Cambridge - not surprising that St Andrews is considered the intellectual center of Scotland. We walk through the old town, visit St Andrews Cathedral and the Castle of St Andrews, which is spectacularly situated on the headland of Castle Sands. Via the TAY-FJORD and DUNDEE we approach the imposing coronation site of the Scots. We visit SCONE PALACE on Moot Hill and the associated park. This is where the 152 kilogram sandstone block was STONE OF SCONE on which the kings of Scotland were crowned. After the victory in the Anglo-Scottish War, this was brought to London for the coronation of the henceforth English kings. In 1996 it was transported back to its homeland in a solemn ceremony and can now be admired together with the Scottish crown jewels in Edinburgh Castle.
Towards evening we check into our second hotel. If you feel like getting up and going again, you can join a guided hike to the impressive nature reserve project HOLE OF THE LOWES and watch the ospreys from there (no extra charge).

Royal Deeside, defile castles and Aberdeen

DAY 4: F/-/A; Overnight in Fife/Perth/Kinross/Surroundings.

●●● Today we discover the ROYAL DEESIDE, as the mountain landscapes above the River Dee are called. Let's see if we can find out if the queen stayed at her summer residence, the BALMORAL CASTLE, is at home. We visit the nearby church CRATHIE CHURCH, where also the royal family likes to stay during their visits. Afterwards the harbor town ABERDEEN is waiting to be explored by us. We are captivated by the view of the dramatic DUNNOTTAR CASTLE, which we of course also want to see from the inside. And how could we stay in this enchanting landscape without planning a little walk along the coast? We definitely have time for that before we get back on the bus and head back to the hotel along the North Sea coast. After dinner we get another fun introduction to the CEILIDH DANCING - Volunteers ahead, the whisky at the hotel bar will certainly give the necessary momentum!

Nessie, kilts and herding dogs in the national park

DAY 5: F/-/A; Overnight in Mallaig/Fort William/surrounding area.

●●● We start the day leisurely and take a stroll through the beautiful village PITLOCHRY, before we stop at a farm in the CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK Morar to experience a shepherd dog demonstration. Through the seemingly endless CENTRAL HIGHLANDS we approach INVERNESS, the capital of the highlands. On the way we stop at the fascinating stone circles. CLAVA CAIRNS. These are not only a highlight for fans of the fantasy series Outlander (it is said that the author of the Highland Saga was inspired here for her works). In Inverness we visit the wool weaving mill Pringles, before we continue to the LOCH NESS - let's see if we meet Nessie? At the mystical URQUHART CASTLE we makea photo stop. We continue our panoramic drive through the magical West Highlands and stop once again at the GLENFINNAN VIADUCT, which will certainly look familiar to Harry Potter enthusiasts. At the end of this eventful day we pass the famous beaches of AIRSAIG andarrive at the beautiful coastal town of MORAR. Over a leisurely dinner at our hotel for the next two nights, we review the impressions of today and get in the mood for tomorrow's exploration of the magical Isle of Skye.

Fairytale Isle of Skye

DAY 6: F/-/A; Overnight in Mallaig/Fort William/surrounding area.

●●● Today a special highlight of our trip awaits us! We will drive to the island SKYE, the largest of the Inner Hebridean Islands, where a true natural paradise awaits us, idyllic, wildly romantic, unspoiled. Its name ISLAND OF MIST, Skye often does not deserve its name. Not surprisingly, it is said that fairies and mythical creatures live on the island - if not here, then where?
Enjoy the ferry crossing from Mallaig to the island. We drive through the charming landscape in the south of the island, cross the famous Skye Bridge, the second longest single-span bridge in the world, and stop at the EILEAN DONAN CASTLE, which has already served as a backdrop for several films. So not only scenes for Highlander and various Bollywood films were shot here , even JAMES BOND himself already had his fingers in the game. The castle was home tothe Scottish headquarters of MI6in "The World Is Not Enough".
On a tour of the island, we pass the famous Cuillin Mountains and continue on to Trotternish, where the striking Quiraing and Kilt Rock (yes, the striking rock actually got its name because of its resemblance to the pattern of the kilt) await us. In the colorful PORTREE we take a break. Hiking enthusiasts can take a short coastal hike from here, for example, before we head back towards the mainland in the afternoon and end the day with dinner at the hotel.

A Taste of Scotland

DAY 7: F/-/A; Overnight in Glasgow/surrounding area.

●●● Have they forgotten about the WHISKY? What do you think of us - we would never deprive you of the high-proof Scottish elixir of life ! In the single malt Ben Nevis distillery at the foot of Scotland's highest mountain, we are introduced to the art of whisky making. That we also taste the national drink, that is out of the question. While we digest the whisky in the bus (and are glad to be chauffeured), our driver drives us through the CINEMASCAPE the West Highlands and through the breathtaking natural paradise of the West Highland Way. VALLEY OF TEARS GLEN COE.
Along the West Highland Way ,we'll take a short walk and then have time to explore on our own. Whether you prefer to enjoy a cream tea - stylishly à la Miss Marple - or a train ride over the RANNOCH MOOR (can be booked on site), is up to you. Your tour guide will surely have one or two suggestions for you before we exploreLoch Lomond and the TROSSACHS NATIONAL PARK explore. For our last night in Scotland, we will travel on to the warm and friendly GLASGOW. With a small city tour we will ring in the end of our joint Scotland trip. At the joint farewell dinner we look back on a hopefully great trip full of impressions.
